Today is the first day of my second year of college.
Two main things I learned in school so far:
Don’t get ahead of yourself: It is easy to overwhelm yourself being a new student to a big school and there is many things that go on.
While I realize that school is the number one priority, I can’t help but be intrigued by new opportunities that come up.
Last year I was in intramural 8-ball pool as well as flag football. These two games taught me how to both be sharp in strategy to win and the drive needed to win tough games.
This type of thinking carried over into academics and school life - teaching me how to be a better student.
You won’t know what you want until you try:
A big part of college life is discovering your interests and goals. This can range from career to hobbies. I just recently switched my major from Engineering to Business. While I thought engineering was for me, I soon began to realize it was not. If I hadn’t tried it out, I would have never known.
The point I’m trying to make is that you won’t find what you want in your life by just sitting in your room and thinking, you need to put yourself out there. Explore new clubs, change classes, without experiences, your life will have little meaning. That is something you have to realize NOW.
Until next week,
